Read why you took so long to find the question to the answer: "What country is Singapore in?".

The "SI" in MalaySIa was added when SIngapore joined Malaya to become Malaysia. 2 years later, Singapore declared its own independent republic within the Commonwealth of Nations on August 9, 1965.

When visiting South East Asia, you must not forget to stop by the island of Singapore. This is a unique and dynamic city which is modern and fast moving with ultra sleek skyscrapers. Within it, you will be able to find exotic ethnic enclaves that reflect the diversity of its history and culture.

Singapore Chinatown

First time visitor in Switzerland

Published by First Time Visitors under EUROPE, Switzerland

switzerlandAs a first time visitor to Switzerland about 15 years ago, I was a young woman embarking on my first overseas holiday and naturally was very excited. I heard so much about Switzerland and the beautiful countryside so I was full of anticipation.

We were a group of secretaries that came together from all over the world and the holiday was partly sponsored by Swissair. We visited Zurich and Lucern and saw the usual tourist spots but what stuck in my mind for a long time was my first “encounter” with snow.. (by the way, I live in hot tropical Malaysia ). It was very cold but I was totally taken in by the white landscape and charming little villages.. guess you have all heard it before.

Well, I wont say the Swiss people are very friendly – infact I found them rather unfriendly and not warm like the sunshine back home! :-)
